Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how TailNumber ("TailNumber,"
"we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you
use our mobile application (the "App").
Information we collect
-
Email address — only if you choose to sign in. We use
email one-time codes for authentication; we never store or see your
password.
-
Search history and saved aircraft (watchlist) — stored
on our servers and associated with your account so you can access them
across devices. Stored locally on-device if you don't sign in.
-
Push notification token — if you enable alerts, the
device token your phone uses to receive push notifications is stored so
we can send you alerts about your saved aircraft.
-
Purchase receipts — managed by Apple and our
subscription provider (RevenueCat) when you subscribe. We receive a
confirmation that you have an active subscription; we do not see or store
your payment details.
-
Aircraft registration data shown in the App comes from
public FAA and NTSB sources. These lookups are queries against a public
dataset; we do not tie them to personally identifying information unless
you are signed in and saving them to your watchlist.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect names, phone numbers, addresses, or location.
- We do not use third-party analytics trackers, ad SDKs, or advertising IDs.
- We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell your data. Ever.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you (email OTP).
- To sync your watchlist across your devices.
- To send push notifications you've explicitly enabled.
- To verify your active subscription status.
- To detect abuse (e.g. rate-limit automated scraping of the App).
Third parties
We use the following service providers. Each of them has its own privacy
policy governing data we share with them:
-
Supabase — hosts our database (watchlist, email, push
tokens).
-
RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements.
-
Apple — processes payments and delivers push
notifications.
-
Expo / EAS — delivers over-the-air updates to the App
(JavaScript bundles only, no user data is sent).
Public FAA and NTSB data
The aircraft registration, airman certificate, NTSB accident, and FAA
Service Difficulty Report data surfaced in the App are published by the
U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety
Board as part of the public record. We ingest these bulk datasets on a
periodic schedule and serve them read-only through the App.
If you are an airman or aircraft owner and your record appears in these
public datasets, you have the option to opt out of the FAA's Releasable
database directly through the FAA — see
FAA Releasable Airmen Database.
Once you opt out at the FAA, your record will fall out of TailNumber the
next time we re-ingest their files (usually within 30 days).
Your rights
-
Access — email support@tailnumberapp.com
and we'll send you a copy of everything associated with your account.
-
Deletion — you can delete your account and all
associated data from Settings → Account → Delete account in the
App, or by emailing support. Deletion removes your email, watchlist, and
push tokens from our systems within 30 days.
-
Correction — email us and we'll update or correct any
account information.
Children
TailNumber is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for material
changes, notify signed-in users in the App. Continued use of the App after
changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
